Ogilvy Colombia and Nestlé Central America present a ground breaking innovation — packaging made from cheese whey. For the first time in the mass consumption industry, cheese whey, a by-product with a low level of utilization despite having similar properties to plastic, is being transformed into sustainable packaging. The new packaging has a double edged impact, reducing plastic waste and give discarded whey a second life. Nestlé is testing Self-Packing Cheese as a primary and secondary packaging of Nestlé ¡Qué Rico! cheeses distributed in Panama, and aiming to produce 5.500 tons of the product with 100% biodegradable whey-based packaging.
