Chief Creative Officer, OgilvyOne Germany, Global CCO, OgilvyOne Worldwide
Michael originally contemplated a career as either a rock star or a racecar driver, before finally settling on advertising as his chosen profession.
He started his career training as a graphic designer and a typographer, and completed his studies in communication design and computer graphic design. After several years of freelancing, Michael started working as an Art Director and Motion Designer in a multimedia agency in 1991. He worked for numerous digital pioneering agencies such as Digital World, USWeb / CKS and Pixelpark Hamburg and New York.
In 2001 – after the dot-com bust – Michael went back to the advertising agency world and joined Jung von Matt as Executive Creative Director for the interactive Unit.
In January 2004 Michael joined Ogilvy. Today, he runs the creative departments of Germany OgilvyOne and he is responsible for the creative quality of the OgilvyOne EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. He serves as the Worldwide Creative Director on a number of international accounts and is a member of the Ogilvy Worldwide Creative Council.
Michael has won every major international creative award as well as Agency Of The Year accolades during his career. He has been a judge for the Art Director’s Club, the Cannes Cyber Lions and was the President of the Golden Drum (the “Cannes Lions of Eastern Europe”).
Michael continues to find inspiration in observing and listening to people and their characteristics. He loves new digital gadgets and considers himself to be an early adoptor. He believes a creative needs more than one instrument to play creativity and that’s why he is playing guitar, recording music and building custom motorcycles in his spare time – mostly at night.
And he still loves to rock’n’race.
