COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Ogilvy involvement in the community is an important part of our
culture. Our employees donate time, energy and creativity to help
non-profit organizations pursue their missions.
Ogilvy Cape Town - Ogilvy Cape Town kicked off
2007 by boldly moving to Woodstock, once the Bohemian home for
artists and performers until absentee landlords and petty criminals
made the area undesirable.
The staff became actively engaged with the Percy Bartley House,
a home for 14-18 year old boys in the Woodstock community. The
Ogilvy Cape Town team exerted their creative muscle, painting
the interior of the home and building a community pole for the
boys to convey messages of hope and positivity. In addition, the
Ogilvy team raised money, donated Christmas gifts to the boys
and even sponsored their annual Christmas party.

Ogilvy New York - Since 2002, Ogilvy New York
has dedicated a day of work each year for staff to volunteer with
non-profit organizations in the city. During Corporate Service
Day 2007 33 teams of Ogilvy staff went out to support 22 organizations.
All in all, 367 employees spent the day at a youth mentoring program,
animal havens, elderly residences, hospitals, museums, soup kitchens
and many more places.
Ogilvy New York also has a close relationship with PENCIL (Public
Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning). Spearheaded by
Carla Hendra (Co-CEO, Ogilvy North America), Ogilvy launched the
Future Marketers program in 2002 to introduce sixth graders from
Public School 123 to the world of advertising. Selected students
come to Ogilvy every two weeks over a 10-month period to work
on a comprehensive marketing program that they present to the
agency's top leadership.
Ogilvy Johannesburg - The Topsy Foundation,
in Gauteng, South Africa, develops programs that help prevent
HIV and AIDS and alleviate their social and economic consequences.
Ogilvy Johannesburg provides The Topsy Foundation free office
space and telephone and Internet service on its campus. In addition,
the Ogilvy team participates in a number of the foundation's initiatives
and fundraising drives.
Ogilvy Brazil - Agente Cidadao is a non-government
organization that collects and delivers high-quality donations,
such as clothes and household goods. Ogilvy Brazil has worked
on a pro bono campaign for Agente Cidadao and has organized two
internal donation campaigns, which netted over 1,500 items.
Ogilvy Brussels - Ogilvy PR Brussels was the
communications sponsor for In-Transit, a project aimed at promoting
intercultural dialogue and cultural awareness across Europe. The
project team produced a 17-minute digital film of young East and
West Europeans on train journey that was shown in Brussels cinemas
and at the Cannes film festival. The team also developed a virtual
train, an online platform that encourages young Europeans to "get
on board" and participate in discussions on the future direction
of Europe. In-Transit is a European Film and Communications project
launched in the European Parliament to commemorate the 50th anniversary
of the European Union.
