PAUL O’DONNELL
Chairman, EAME
OgilvyOne worldwide

Paul has been with Ogilvy for 20 years.

He joined the London office in 1985 as a telebusiness and dataservices consultant, but was soon lured into client services, working his way through the ranks to become Group Director on the British Telecom account, then the largest client of the agency. He changed roles again in 1988, as one of the creators of the UK's first Account Planning department in a direct marketing agency.

His charity and fundraising experience began in 1987, when he won the Help the Aged new donor acquisition account, shortly followed by the legacy programme. In Singapore, Paul was a communications advisor to the Community Chest.

He then spent 8 years in Asia, running our operations in Singapore and then Hong Kong, before becoming President of OgilvyOne Asia/Pacific in 1995, with responsibility for 14 separate businesses across the region. He was also a founder member of the OgilvyOne Worldwide Board.

In the spring of 1998 he returned to London to work on developing our business with international clients, creating new service offerings, and driving our international acquisition and partnership strategy. He also oversaw our reorganisation and expansion in Latin America.

In terms of acquisitions, Paul has been directly involved with over 20 deals in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

In September 2002, he became Chairman of OgilvyOne London, and two years later assumed responsibility for OgilvyOne's buiness across the entire EAME region.

He also has a particular interest in organisational psychodynamics and the management of change within companies. He recently completed the inaugural International Diploma Programme at INSEAD, and holds a Masters Degree from the Haute Etude Commercial in Paris.

Paul is also a leading industry contributor as a member of the Institute of Direct Marketing's management council, and a founder of the IPA Direct Marketing Group.

Paul is married with a young daughter, and lives close to Ogilvy's Canary Wharf offices, in the heart of London's docklands.
