Chairman of the Board, Ogilvy Group Brazil
Sergio graduated in journalism, social sciences and history,
and took several courses in advertising, marketing and business
administration.
He started his advertising career as a copywriter at Vox Propaganda
in Salvador, Bahia. From 1970 to 1981, Sergio worked as account
director, creative director and vice-president for the northern
and northeastern regions for Standard Ogilvy & Mather. From
1981 to 1990 he established and managed two local agencies, D&E
and DS 2000. In 1991, he became the CEO of Denison Propaganda
São Paulo Ltda.
In January 1997, Denison was incorporated by WPP and Sérgio
took over as President of Standard, Ogilvy & Mather. Besides
heading Standard Ogilvy & Mather, he is involved in activities
related to planning, client servicing and prospecting.
In July, 1997, Sérgio was appointed Ogilvy & Mather
regional Vice-President for Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador
and Bolívia, and will oversee Nestlé, BAT, IBM and
Seagram accounts.
He was elected President of São Paulo Chapter of the Brazilian
Association of Advertising Agencies - ABAP for 1999/2001 and,
on April 30, 2001, he was elected National President for ABAP.
Sérgio has been elected to Ogilvy's Worldwide Board in
December, 2001.
He was born in Bahia in 1948, is married to Regina and has 3
sons and 1 daughter.
