[Bangkok, September 20 2010] Ogilvy & Mather has named Khun Punnee Chaiyakul to the role of Chairman, Ogilvy & Mather Thailand effective January 1, 2011. Prior to this position, Punnee was Vice Chairman and Head of Advertising, and she will continue as Head of Advertising concurrently with her new responsibilities.
Punnee will take over the reins from Alan Couldrey who has been Chairman since 2007 and who has, since 2009, combined this role with being CEO for The Brand Union in Asia Pacific. Alan will divide his time between Bangkok, Hong Kong and the rest of the region.
John Goodman, President Ogilvy & Mather South & Southeast Asia said, "This is fitting recognition of the incredible contribution Khun Punnee has made to our business in Thailand and Asia as leader of one of our most famous, awarded and successful businesses anywhere in the world."
Punnee joined Ogilvy & Mather in Thailand in 1985 and became managing director for Advertising in 2002, and Vice Chairman for the group shortly after.
"I am delighted to take on this challenge and delighted to have a talented team with which to make the most of the opportunities in Thailand", she said.
Alan Couldrey commented: "It feels absolutely natural and right that Khun Punnee should take Ogilvy in Thailand to the next level; she is made for this job. Lucky, lucky Ogilvy to have someone of this caliber in such a stimulating market."
