Ogilvy Appoints Patou Nuytemans as Regional Interactive Head and “Digital Conscience”

LONDON, September 9, 2009 – Ogilvy & Mather is delighted to announce the appointment of Patou Nuytemans to the role of Chief Digital Officer for the Ogilvy group in Europe, Africa and Middle East.

patou, digital officer, press Nuytemans, who is currently Ogilvy & Mather EAME’s Digital Director, takes up her new job with immediate effect. She will report into Ogilvy & Mather EAME Vice-Chairman Paul O’Donnell. Described as one of the network’s “foremost digital evangelists,” Patou has worked at Ogilvy for 13 years in various roles in Brussels, Paris, New York, London and Cape Town.

A Commercial Engineering graduate, she joined Ogilvy & Mather Direct (now OgilvyOne) Belgium in 1992 and after a break working for Microsoft returned to agency life in 1998, running the pan-European IBM software account. In 2000 she became Ogilvy’s first Global Knowledge Manager (based in New York) in 2000. Under her guard Truffles, the network’s intranet, became an invaluable resource for more than 11,000 employees around the world. In 2003 she returned to Europe as EAME Business Performance Manager. She launched a series of successful initiatives such as the Ogilvy Telco Task Force and the Ogilvy Digital Task Force, combining her passion for, and expertise in, new media and technology for creative and effective marketing.

Paul O’Donnell commented: “In her new role Patou will be carrying on the tasks she has been performing so well over the past few years: a key adviser to a number of clients; the principal architect of our outstanding regional training programmes; and being the person that everyone wants to involve in any significant digital pitch or challenge.

“Beyond this, Patou will be acting as a ‘digital conscience’ for the agency, representing the digital community to the rest of the EAME leadership team, and the outside world. She will work with Country, Unit and Regional Discipline leaders to determine specific plans for each market and operating unit in 2010 and beyond.

“Most markets in our region have made positive steps in implementing our interactive strategy, but now we need to step up the pace. Patou will be given real "teeth" in her new role, with a remit to shake things up a bit. The results should be interesting and will, I think, put us in a much stronger position in the coming months and years.”
