CP+B’s Gerard Caputo Joins Ogilvy New York

NEW YORK, NY, October 20, 2011 – Emmy Award-winning creative director Gerard Caputo is joining Ogilvy & Mather New York as Senior Partner, Executive Creative Director from Crispin Porter Bogusky, Miami.

In commenting on the appointment, Steve Simpson, Chief Creative Officer for Ogilvy North America said, “Gerard is very obviously a terrific talent. His work stands out for its insight and craft, and it has won every award that counts, many times over. Beyond that, Gerard deeply, fervently believes in doing the work. No agency today can fund a superstructure of creative heavies who manage, but seldom do, the work. No one gets to be a guru. No one gets to sit in the Big Chair. Our most senior people have to be our best creative people; they need to as obsessive and driven to produce great workas the hungriest junior. Gerard meets this standard, and then some.”

At CP&B Gerard served as an Executive Creative Director for its Miami office.  There he rebuilt the creative department and led all integrated creative development on existing clients and new business. He worked on Met Life, vitaminwater and new business.

He won an Emmy Award for the PBS “Fish” commercial and an additional nomination in 2008 for the FedEx “Pigeons” Superbowl commercial he helmed while at BBDO. He started his advertising career at Mullen and also worked in Minneapolis for Fallon and in New York for DDB. Recently he served on the One Show jury and was an instructor at the Pratt Institute.

At Ogilvy he will be involved immediately on the agency’s American Express account, among others.

“Steve started something special at Ogilvy, and I’m excited to return to New York and be part of it,” said Gerard Caputo.

Caputo’s hire follows several important creative hires under CCO North America Steve Simpson’s leadership, including Alfonso Marian who joined Ogilvy this summer from Shackelton, Madrid, and Ian MacKellar in Toronto as the agency’s new Chief Creative Officer.
