JOHANNESBURG, November 27, 2014 – Ogilvy & Mather Africa performed exceptionally well at the Adfocus Awards held in Johannesburg last night after being named African Agency Network of the Year. The agency has successfully won this award consecutively over the past six years.
"We are extremely proud to have won this award again, as we realise that the competition is so much tougher than in previous years with the growth in networks, but it's not about the number of pins you have on the board, but rather the quality of the creative work and the networks ability to help its clients realise their objects", said Marc Spriestersbach Managing Director at Ogilvy & Mather Africa Johannesburg.

Further complementing Ogilvy Africa's win is Bob Rightford, who went on to win an AdFocus Lifetime Achievement Award at last night’s event. Rightford started his long and successful career in 1950 and went on to co-found Rightford, Searle-Tripp and Makin in 1976 before the company merge with Ogilvy in 1984. The little advertising hot shop went on to become the top agency in South Africa and remains one of the most successful agencies within the O&M global network.
Rightford's most recent project is a book titled Wallop!, written by Toni Younghusband, that was launched at O&M Cape Town earlier this month. The story conveys the energy and joy of Rightford and his two fellow advertising luminarieswho took on the advertising scene in SA.
