DELHI, October 4, 2010 – Ogilvy Delhi launches a TV commercial for Indian Railways. This commercial was released on the opening day of the Common Wealth Games.
"Train journeys have been an integral part of our lives, but it takes a special effort to capture some of these nuances on film. Working on this project, to me personally has been one of the most satisfying and emotional experiences," said Sanjay Thapar, Group President North and East. He continued, “When we were briefed on the Indian Railways project, one glaring fact that astounded us all was that the Indian Railways is possibly the biggest brand in this country – we could not recall a bigger, historical and equally endearing brand than that of the Indian Railways.”
The Indian Railways connect and touch every one of our 1.3 billion population in more ways than one; our attempt was to capture this very core essence of the Indian Railways brand. The Ogilvy team - Sanjay Thapar, Ajay Gahlaut (Executive Creative Director – Delhi), and Senior Creative Directors Sukesh Nayak and Heeral Akhaury (Ogilvy Mumbai) – led by Piyush Pandey along with the Nirvana team led by Prakash Varma, pulled off a near impossible deadline with the passion and commitment that came from this very emotion.
“Nothing compares to the romance and excitement of trains. That is what made us line up one behind the other and pretend to be a train when we were kids. And that was the magic and simplicity of Piyush's script, brought to life brilliantly by Prakash’s execution. This was the fastest I have seen a script translated into a finished film.
