Ogilvy consolidates growth market leadership team in Singapore

[SINGAPORE, November 22, 2010] Ogilvy & Mather announced today that Chris Riley, Regional Director OgilvyOne South Asia has been appointed as Director for the Growth Market Unit (GMU), IBM Brand Services. The appointment comes at a time when Ogilvy is shifting its core leadership team from Sydney to Singapore.

Chris Riley“Singapore is an important international location for Ogilvy for several reasons: its close proximity to the global growth markets; the strong existing IBM relationships with both ASEAN leadership and global Demand Programme work; and finally the partnership with an agency that is experienced in building and leading global and regional brands across a number of international clients,” Said Chris Riley.

Effective December 1 2010, Chris will lead the IBM business for the Ogilvy Group both in Asia Pacific and across over 140 defined growth markets globally. Chris will report into both Asia operational and global IBM brand management functions at Ogilvy in New York.

The new team will be operational as of February 2011 in Singapore. Key leaders, who are currently based in Sydney, will join Chris in Singapore to continue their work on the IBM business include; Todd Krugman, Director, Advertising Growth Markets, Rowan Avis, Digital Director, Growth Markets and Jeff Curry, Creative Director, Growth Markets.

Said Paul Heath CEO Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific: "Consolidating our leading IBM Growth markets team in this location, is further evidence of the importance of Singapore as a global office in the Ogilvy network. Chris's knowledge of emerging markets, integrated digital campaigns and demand generation will help take what is already a winning team to the next level of performance."

On his appointment Chris stated: "I’m very excited to become involved in the IBM business at such a critical time of opportunity. There are plenty of challenges ahead on how we develop marketing in different and innovative ways to drive both geographic expansion and IBM revenue growth that outpaces the market. By ensuring we have the agency leadership team co-located, I feel we will be able to more dynamically lead growth market strategies and new integrated thinking across advertising, demand programmes, public relations and media."

Chris takes over the reins from Andrew Scott who has lead the IBM GMU relationship in Shanghai for the last two years. Andrew moves to new opportunities within the WPP Group.
