Nandu Buty appointed CEO of Ogilvy Africa

NAIROBI, KENYA, May 23, 2012 – Ogilvy & Mather EAME is pleased to announce that Nandkishor Buty, known as Nandu, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer for Ogilvy Africa, its operations in Sub Saharan Africa.

Daniel Sicouri, Chairman Ogilvy EAME, says, “Africa is key to our success and we have an ambition to grow our business on this continent. Nandu has done a fantastic job in leading the Ogilvy Africa business, which has resulted in Ogilvy Africa being network of the year for the last 3 years.  We are now further strengthening our position in Africa by focusing on moving from a network of affiliates to a network of owned businesses.”

Nandu, formerly Executive Director at Ogilvy Africa and a twenty-year advertising veteran, assumes responsibility for the continued growth of Ogilvy & Mather in Africa through a commitment to delivering integrated communications solutions for clients.

After completing a Masters in Business Administration, Nandu started his advertising career with Lowe India. He spent five years working on Unilever brands before moving on to join the fast emerging entertainment industry in India where he was Marketing Manager with MTV India for a year.

The challenge of working in Africa brought Nandu to Kenya where he joined Scangroup and spearheaded the launch of two global telecom brands (Vodacom and Tigo) in the market as well as winning the “Warid” business in Uganda.

2010 saw Scangroup’s joint venture with Ogilvy Africa where he took on the role of Executive Director. As head of the business and with relevant experience on telecom, he led the successful pitch for Airtel Africa and thereafter the process of setting up of ‘Team Airtel’, which today manages the 360 Airtel business across seventeen markets in Africa.

“It’s a great challenge and a huge opportunity for me to spearhead the growth for Ogilvy in Sub Saharan Africa.  With clients like Airtel, IBM, Barclays, SAB Miller and a versatile team of professionals, we aim to build a strong Ogilvy brand across the African landscape,” said Nandu.
