Bassat Ogilvy Appoints Gem Romero as Strategic Creative Director

BARCELONA, 24 March 2010 – The appointment of Gem Romero is a response to the company's desire to strengthen its position as a leading agency in Barcelona. It also represents a strong commitment from the agency in the development of its strategic capacity and ability to integrate all types of communication.

Romero will be head of the agency's creative strategy, with a clear focus on integrated communication.

In the words of Bettina Farreras, managing director of the company in Barcelona, “Bassat Ogilvy is one of the benchmark agencies in Barcelona, and in order to continue that way, we have to invest in talent.” As far as he is concerned, Gem Romero believes that “in Barcelona there is a way of doing things that makes it especially interesting to innovate and make the most of the opportunities offered by such a fast-paced environment.”

Until now Gem Romero had worked as general strategy manager for Tapsa in Madrid, having joined the agency in 2007. Previously, Romero developed his professional career as a strategic planner at SCPF and as associate director with the Added Value Planners consultancy.

Gem Romero holds a degree in Business Administration and Management and an MBA from ESADE, and teaches at different business schools in Barcelona and Madrid. He is also a founding partner of APG in Spain and is currently a member of its board of directors.
