Kim Slicklein Named President of OgilvyEarth

NEW YORK, NY, June 28, 2011 – Veteran sustainability marketing executive Kim Slicklein is joining OgilvyEarth as President of its integrated global sustainability practice. She replaces Seth Farbman, who has joined Ogilvy client GAP as Chief Marketing Officer.

A social entrepreneur and innovator in developing environmental and cultural sustainability solutions, Ms. Slicklein is joining OgilvyEarth from Droga5 where she led the independent agency’s sustainability and CSR initiatives. Prior to that she spent more than 6 years launching and building Enclave Rising, the first fully sustainable real estate development company.
Slicklein also pioneered corporate social responsibility through the Enclave Rising Foundation, which created tailor-made programs focused on conservation, alternative energy, public-private partnerships, and genuine sustainability initiatives.

“Kim is a visionary executive; she’s both a proven leader in sustainability and a social entrepreneur in her own right,” said Miles Young, Global CEO of Ogilvy & Mather. “She is ideally qualified to expand and build upon OgilvyEarth’s established industry leadership.”

At Droga5, Slicklein helped create a global movement around wind on behalf of their client Vestas, which included the launch of the “WindMade” initiative at the Davos World Economic Forum. At her own firm, Enclave Rising, she developed and launched Ethos Resorts and Spas, the world’s first net zero carbon five star resort brand.

“I’ve been impressed by the initiatives led by OgilvyEarth on behalf of some of the world’s largest companies and most reputable brands,” said Slicklein. “I am excited by the opportunity to build on that success and to grow OgilvyEarth’s practice.” Slicklein also believes that, “sustainability will continue to drive growth in the future. Those companies that embrace sustainable business practices and aim to become good corporate citizens will most likely be the leading organizations of the next generation. The OgilvyEarth team will draw upon Ogilvy’s vast and integrated global network to help those leading organizations achieve success.”

Launched in 2009 as a global integrated offering, OgilvyEarth was recently named by independent research firm Verdantix as a leading integrated marketing agency offering “genuine expertise in sustainability communications.” This month OgilvyEarth released a ground-breaking study that has received widespread coverage and details the need for marketers to close the sustainability gap and make selecting sustainable products and options more appealing, cost-effective and available to mainstream consumers. The year-long study included consumers in the US and China and included qualitative and quantitative research: http://www.ogilvyearth.com/thoughtleadership
