World's Largest Portfolio Review Held in Mainland China for the First Time
BEIJING, June 12, 2009 – For the first time, Ogilvy & Mather has served as the global partner for ihaveanidea's Annual Portfolio Night review. Ogilvy & Mather China hosted the Beijing event, marking its debut in mainland China.
Sixteen of the city's most prestigious creatives from world-class agencies including Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi, JWT and McCann Erickson among others (full list below), came together to meet face-to-face with more than 50 students and aspiring young creatives, offering them a unique opportunity to make contacts and gain advice on how to make their portfolios better.
The event featured a uniquely designed portfolio review process in a "speed-dating" setting that offered young creatives the opportunity to speak with three or more acclaimed creative directors over a 45-minute period.
"Ogilvy is honored and excited to have hosted the first-ever Portfolio Night review in mainland China which was a smashing success. We were pleased and pleasantly surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response that we received from both our peers in the industry who signed on to join us without hesitation and the many eager young creatives that worked hard to prepare their portfolios and bravely put themselves out there in front of their potential mentors and employers," said Doug Schiff, Executive Creative Director, OgilvyOne Beijing, and one of the hosts of Portfolio Night 7 Beijing.
Kweichee Lam, Ogilvy Beijing's Head of Copy, added, "It felt great to be part of an event which offered creative directors from around the city an opportunity to come together to celebrate what we can do if we all work together to raise the bar for the next generation."
As a global partner, Ogilvy hosted portfolio reviews in eight cities around the globe including Beijing, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Melbourne, Tunis, Beirut and Dubai. The New York event will be held on Tuesday, June 16.

For eager up-and-comers, Portfolio Night is an incredible opportunity to meet with the industry's most acclaimed creative directors and have their work critiqued, gain advice and possibly a job. For agency creative directors, Portfolio Night represents a chance to give back to the advertising community, and to meet or recruit the most talented young people trying to enter the business. Since its inception, Portfolio Night has always been held on one evening, simultaneously in all cities. This year, Portfolio Night 7 will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009, around the world, but it will be held in New York City on June 16, 2009.
