SHANGHAI, 20 January 2010 – Ogilvy China today announced that Edward Bell will relocate to Shanghai as Group Planning Director for Ogilvy & Mather Group Shanghai, effective immediately.
Bell brings to Shanghai nine years of planning experience in Greater China and is considered among the leading planners in the region. Most recently, Bell was Regional Planning Director for the Ogilvy team in Beijing that led Motorola's global communications, and was a core part of the WPP Enfatico operation serving the Group's strategic Dell relationship.
In his new role, Bell will be responsible for bringing together Ogilvy’s collective strategic thinking across disciplines and driving deeper consumer insights into campaigns. He will also continue to hold a Regional Planning Director role.
Chris Reitermann, President of Ogilvy & Mather Group Shanghai and OgilvyOne China, said, “Edward brings a great combination of experience on global brands and deep insights into China to this position. Ideas today need to be bigger, bolder and discipline neutral. And they need to make an impact on society and our clients’ bottom lines. Edward not only understands this, but knows how to do it, and will be an extremely valuable addition to our management team in Shanghai.“
Bell will report to both Chris Reitermann and Mickey Chak, Chief Planning Officer, Ogilvy & Mather Group China, for China work and to Paul Matheson, O&M’s regional head of planning for Asia-Pacific, for regional assignments.
Bell has years of industry experience, and has been with Ogilvy in China since 2001, working across geographies, disciplines and functions. Previously, he was the head of planning for Ogilvy in Hong Kong and Southern China, and afterward, became the Group Planning Director at Ogilvy & Mather Beijing. During his Ogilvy career, he has provided planning services for a number of MNC clients including American Express, Coca-Cola and Lee Jeans to name but a few.
