Ogilvy PR Sacramento Announces New Hires and Expanded Business Offering

SACRAMENTO, CA, February 16, 2010 – Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, announced an expanded business offering, new hires and staff changes to its Sacramento office, aimed at furthering growth after moving into new offices in downtown Sacramento and a series of high-profile new business victories.

Beginning mid-February, Ogilvy PR/Sacramento will launch an additional offering to its clients with the hiring of Don Wilcox, as senior vice president and Nicole Ratcliff as vice president. The pair will work to build a Government Affairs specialty in Sacramento, offering seasoned expertise in the lobbying field to a range of the agency’s clients. Wilcox was most recently Chief of Staff to Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod and a veteran Capitol insider. Ratcliff joins Ogilvy PR from KP Public Affairs where she managed several of the firm’s major clients, and was responsible for shaping public opinion through public affairs, issues management and coalition building campaigns. Both will work closely with Ogilvy PR’s thriving global public affairs practice.

“Many of our clients have sought our advice in the government affairs side of the business. With the addition of Wilcox and Ratcliff we will be able to offer them the full range of services they are looking for, from help with public affairs and media relations, to advice on issues that are taking place in the halls of the Capitol,” said Michael Law, managing director of Ogilvy PR/West Coast. “This is a great addition for Ogilvy PR and will help our business continue to grow.”

Valerie Vento, senior vice president, was promoted in December 2009 to executive vice president and the leadership position for the agency’s Sacramento office, which combines thriving public affairs, government, corporate affairs and branding practices for various state, association and corporate clients. Valerie has been with Ogilvy PR for five years, and brings expertise in social marketing and public affairs to such clients as the California Earthquake Authority, Planned Parenthood and California State Treasurer Buy California Bonds initiative. She previously worked in advertising at DDB Needham, Foote Cone & Belding.

Ogilvy PR also hired Steven Frith, a new assistant account executive to help with the increased general public relations work in the office.

“Ogilvy PR’s operations in the Western US did exceedingly well in 2009 winning new business and continuing to represent some of the nation’s biggest and most influential brands. These additions will make us even stronger,” concluded Law.
