I am the Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy & Mather Chicago, and I have been with Ogilvy since November 2000.
We have an unusually open way of working, especially in the creative process. Ideas are created and shared across the agency. We pin up work in progress on big, black foam core boards where everybody can see it. Everyone is accessible, and everyone's voice is important. The energy goes into collaborating instead of competing with each other. Your discipline and your skill are more important than your title. What team you're on is more important than what department you're in.
We're in the idea business. We look for idea people; people who have them and people who recognize them when other people have them. I believe ideas are everybody's job, no matter what your job title is.
My favorite career highlight at Ogilvy is when we won the Grand Effie for Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty in 2006. It made my wife, my mother, my daughter and my sisters very proud.
My favorite Ogilvy quote is: "Remember the Scottish proverb: be happy while you are living, for you're a long time dead."
