Gerry joined O&M in 2003 when the ad agency he co-founded, Harrison Human, was acquired by O&M South Africa. With the acquisition, he became ECD of O&M Johannesburg, where he led the agency to win Agency of the Year several times during his tenure.
In 2009 he relocated to O&M London as Executive Creative Director of the Unilever account worldwide, with a focus on Dove's "Real Beauty" campaign. Two years later, he was named Executive Creative Director of O&M London. In February 2016 he was named Global Executive Creative Director, Global Brand Management.
Gerry was instrumental in the agency winning the $500m Philips account, as well as Kronenbourg 1664 and Pizza Hut.
The period since he was named Executive Creative Director is the most awarded in O&M London's 65-year history. O&M's "luggage tags" campaign for Expedia was named "most awarded campaign in the world" by the 2013 Gunn report, and collected a coveted effectiveness lion in 2014. In 2015, Clio's named 28 Too Many "Advertiser of the year" after O&M London's provocative campaign against FGM swept the boards, winning a total of 15 statues, including Grand Prix. The agency's online campaign for Kronenbourg, "Le Big Swim" - featuring legendary footballer Eric Cantona, was named the No.1 social media brand* in the UK for 2015 (*The Grocer).
Gerry has served on many international award juries including Cannes Lions, Clio, One Show and D&AD, where he was jury foreman in 2015. He is the recipient of 34 Clio Statues, including Grand Clio in 2015 as well as 10 One Show pencils and 51 Cannes Lions.
He always sees the glass half full – preferably of not-too-peaty single malt whisky.
