The Czech Republic has become an oasis of tolerance, but that acceptance isn't shared throughout the majority of the world. In too many countries, a simple show of affection can be a crime, punishable by the authorities or by others outside the bounds of the law. Prague Pride wanted to give people across the world the ability to show their pride and celebrate themselves, even if they couldn't in their own home country. LGBT Avatars was created—a new social network that allowed people around the world to connect with Prague locals who could attend Prague Pride on their behalf, as their avatar.
